Stitch tells Adler that the Perseus the CIA was focused on died back in 1983, with cancer killing the Russian agent. Through this dialogue, Stitch reveals that the Perseus players were hunting in the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War campaign was dead the entire time. Instead, the two adversaries share a lengthy conversation that serves as an interesting recap of their shared history. While players may have expected to see some intense final fight between the two characters, similar to the one from the Season 1 outro, that does not happen in this scene. Visualized via the multiplayer map Deprogram, Stitch had done a lot of damage to Adler’s mind, though Mason’s experience as a victim of the Numbers program allowed him to help Adler break free from the mind control. In the Season 6 intro, original Black Ops protagonist Alex Mason stepped into the story to help Adler overcome his brainwashing. Now, that story has come to a close, with the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 6 outro cinematic letting players witness one last discussion between Stitch and Adler.
With the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War campaign ending on a cliffhanger, the narrative was continued throughout the game’s post-launch Seasons.
